Reflection

As the Christmas season is unfolding I am finding that I am spending a lot of time reflecting this year. I have been thinking a lot about where our family was at last year. The anticipation of meeting our son. The anguish of the wait. The disappointment of not passing court and having Johnny home for Christmas. This year is much different. Our family feels full....complete (for now :). I am not longing for family, I am surrounded by family.

Christmas is by far my most favorite time of year. It is the one season that people set aside to get together with loved ones, tell each other they are special through gift giving, make wonderful meals to share with one another. Though the busyness of Christmas can be overwhelming, I hope we never stop making an effort to make it special.

This Christmas I am thankful for my family. For my husband who is an amazing man and partner to me. Our life is so full and blessed. He makes life fun and keeps our family on the path we need to be on. He is an incredible father and dotes on us with a love that is hard to explain. I am thankful for my children. For my baby (well not anymore but always to me) girl. Her sweet spirit and fun personality. For my son. His silly giggles and excited energy lights up my days. For my extended family. Their love envelopes our family this time of year and fills us up so we can bear living so far away.

This Christmas season is so different from the last. Full of joy and celebration. But I find myself not wanting to let go of last years sense of anticipation. Maybe it is that I learned lessons on trusting in the Lord. Maybe it is that as we process our trip we remember all that we left behind and ache to go back. Maybe it is just that it is part of our families story, part of what makes us who we are.

As you celebrate this Christmas season take some time to reflect on those Christmas' of the past. The good and the bad. Bring then with you to this Christmas season and let it enrich you time in the present. Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

Amazing to think it is this anticipation which makes this season so powerful & wonderful. Your hope was answered as you boarded the plane to pick up Johnny. And now this Christmas it's one heck of a story to tell. Sending our love to an amazing family in N.C.
